Surrender, Generosity & Mission

“Fierce trust demands that you put forth the work anyhow, because fierce trust knows that the outcome does not matter. The outcome cannot matter. Fierce trust asks you to stand strong within this truth: “You are worthy, dear one, regardless of the outcome. You will keep making your work, regardless of the outcome. You will keep sharing your work, regardless of the outcome. You were born to create, regardless of the outcome. You will never lose trust in the creative process, even when you don’t understand the outcome.”

The view from Mount Princeton Hot Springs where this journey was first dreamed

Greetings from the wilderness!

I have so much to tell you, I barely know where to begin.

On Wednesday, I met up with a fellow nomadic friend, Chanale, who also travels solo to be with God. While soaking in the living waters at Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort, I was telling her and the Lord how much I missed soaking in my big garden tub at my old home in Denver. The Lord told Chanale that Jesus was inviting us on an adventure and that He would bathe us in His presence in His garden.

With a resounding and obedient 'yes,' we immediately made plans to depart on a last-minute road trip through the American Southwest. Luckily, this nomadic friend is an avid car camper, and I have a lot of camping gear at the cabin. After time with Jesus in prayer at the waterfall, we packed up the car and departed early on Thursday morning towards Moab.

Our first stop was at the top of Independence Pass, where we parked in Aspen for breakfast. From there, we made our way past Glenwood Springs and Grand Junction into Utah on I-70. Once in Moab, we stopped for pictures at the petroglyphs before driving through Arches National Park.

The trip from Salida to the hot springs in Utah was just over 8 hours. We were engaged in deep and meaningful conversation the entire time. We are both passionate Enneagram 8s who love Jesus with intensity, and the sparks of divine magic that flew between us were palpable. We spoke extensively about trusting God and what surrender looks like in our lives as female digital nomads who travel solo, deeply dependent on God.

On our way from Moab to the hot springs, God showed us Their glory.

We were facing heavy rain on the highway and found ourselves in the middle of nowhere with no gas. We watched the gas gauge drain quickly down to zero miles to empty, but were still nowhere near a service station. We were thankful to have cell service and found a gas station in an obscure location 15 miles off the highway. With brave faith and prayer, we exited onto the country road, still on empty.

Of course, all the “what if” questions arose regarding what we would do should we need to pull over. I kept hearing the Lord say, “Trust me and surrender your fears.” In faithful obedience, we did just that as we flew across the desert landscape on empty.

Not only did we make it to the gas station, once we had filled up and were on our way back to the highway, Jesus gave us a rainbow as a reminder of His love and faithfulness. This became even more significant as we drove past other cars on the side of the highway who had run out of gas and were waiting for tow trucks.

We made it to Monroe, Utah, just in time for our reservation at Mystic Hot Springs. We experienced more God winks as we walked up the hill to the porcelain bath tubs built into the mountainside.

While soaking in the tub looking out over the view of the valley, I heard the Spirit say to me, “See, I told you I would give you even more than you could ever ask or imagine. Enjoy this bath in My garden of creation.” I had been longing for my old garden soaking tub, as great as it was, but God was showing me that this longing for Egypt wouldn’t compare to what Jesus had in store for me.

With Day 1 complete, we made it back to Moab safely in the dark and enjoyed our stay at the Expedition Lodge (a real bed and shower) on the first night of this adventure. We woke up early and hit the road for Arizona.

It was on this leg of the trip that the Lord told me that each day of our journey would be an experience of the three life postures of Loto: Surrender, Generosity, and Mission. We had experienced Surrender and were excited to see how Generosity would show up on Day 2. We knew to expect God’s glory on full display when my friend woke up to tell me that she had dreamed about seeing a triple rainbow.

I have always wanted to explore the Antelope slot canyons in the Diné (Navajo) territory of Arizona. As an iPhone photographer, I wasn’t sure what I would be able to capture, but I am so grateful for the high-res cameras that we carry in our pockets. If you have never been, you really should make it a priority to visit this natural wonder and to learn from the indigenous peoples who have been the caretakers of the canyon’s mysteries for centuries.

What I experienced there was a Spirit-filled moment of awe and wonder, a mystical experience for my heart alone. Suffice it to say that my time wandering through the canyons with my Diné guides was an experience of generosity, both given and received.

We were blessed with overcast skies that day, which would otherwise have been scorching heat, as this is the middle of the desert. Thanks to the cooler temperatures, we made a quick stop for pictures at Horseshoe Bend before making our way back to Utah’s Bryce Canyon National Park to camp for the night. It was after a brief rainstorm that forced us back to the car, where we saw the 🌈🌈🌈 prophesied in Chanale’s dream that morning.

The Big Dipper in Bryce Canyon National Park

The Lord provided us with the perfect, brightly lit camping site in Bryce Canyon, situated under a nearly full moon. From the campfire, we sat beneath the big dipper, keenly aware of how God was filling our energetic cups through this trip.

After a restful night's sleep under the stars on Day 2, we made the 8.5-hour drive back to Colorado, where we stopped in Moffat.

I love the way the Lord provides through others. In the same way that Surrender continued into Day 2, Generosity continued into Day 3, Mission.

I had recently been introduced to another amazing woman who is building an off-grid permaculture retreat space near a hot spring in Moffat, Joyful Journey. When I made the call to ask if we could camp on her land, not only did she say yes, she offered us the use of one of her RVs. She blessed us with her gift of hospitality—From the plush robes hanging on the closet to the use of her wood-fired barrel sauna, we were treated like royalty.

I wasn’t sure how Mission was going to show up, but the Lord made it very clear that evening, which was the start of Pentecost.

I have a dream of creating a regenerative monastery commune for women, where we can live off the land, retreat in community with other believers, and experience a holy land set apart for communion with God. I originally connected with our host because of our shared vision. Chanale and I spent the evening with her in her sweat lodge (a wood-fired barrel sauna), moving in and out of the heat to bask in the moonlight naked.

The power of the Spirit of God radiating between the three of us was palpable, and confirmed for me the Mission of my life. My Mission was further validated upon returning to Salida, ending where we began, at the prayer waterfall. The Lord spoke to me about how He has already been providing me with the necessary resources for this vision, including protection.

Since 2020, God has been using these two weeks leading up to my birthday as turning points in my life—pivotal moments of awakened consciousness and awareness of the Holy Spirit. Clearly, this year was no exception. God knew exactly what I needed to prepare me for what is coming on June 14th, my birthday.

I’m looking forward to writing you next Monday after the Lord shows up in His glory again this Saturday.

With Love,

Jennifer
