House of Loto
A place to gather. A place to remember we belong.
Nestled at the edge of the San Isabel National Forest near Salida, Colorado, the House of Loto is the physical home of Loto and her Mothers—a place where people gather in relationship with one another, the Earth, and the Sacred.
Part gathering place, part retreat center, part sanctuary, part experiment in regenerative living, the House of Loto is where many of the ideas we explore through Loto become embodied.
Here, we gather around tables and fires.
We walk into the forest.
We make art and altars.
We share practices, stories, meals, silence, and ceremony.
We tend the land that tends us.
And we practice what it might mean to live as though we truly belong to one another and to the Earth.
THE LAND
The land is not the backdrop. It is part of the relationship.
The House of Loto sits on family land* at the base of Mt. Shavano, surrounded by the San Isabel National Forest and within walking distance of the Angel of Shavano trailhead and waterfall.
For four generations, this land has held people.
Today, we are learning how to hold it in return.
The forest around us bears the visible effects of drought, wildfire risk, pine beetle devastation, and a changing climate. Our relationship with this place, therefore, asks more of us than appreciation.
It asks for participation.
Through our growing land stewardship and reforestation efforts, we are working to restore trees, care for the forest, and participate in the long-term regeneration of this ecosystem.
Gathering here becomes part of that relationship.
*We respectfully acknowledge the unceded and ancestral territories of the Ute and Cheyenne Nations and the traditional keepers of their land. We want to say thank you for allowing us to live, work, and play on your lands.
GATHER HERE
Experiences rooted in place.
The House of Loto hosts intimate, nature-based gatherings and retreats designed to cultivate presence, relationship, creativity, and belonging.
You might find yourself walking quietly through the forest during Forest Church, creating an earth altar, gathering around a fire beneath the full moon, lying beneath the trees for a sound meditation, sharing tea in ceremony, or sitting around a table with people you didn't know a few hours before.
The format changes.
The invitation underneath it does not:
Come into relationship.
FOREST CHURCH
A contemplative, nature-based gathering where Creation becomes sanctuary and teacher. Through walking, silence, embodied practice, reflection, and community, we make space for direct encounter with the Sacred.
A HOUSE OF PRACTICE
Not just what we believe. How we live.
The House of Loto is an ongoing experiment in putting Loto's values into practice in day-to-day life.
What happens when hospitality becomes a form of reciprocity?
When is land something we belong to rather than something we own?
When abundance is measured not only by what we possess, but by what circulates between us?
When beauty, rest, creativity, contemplation, and relationship are treated as essential conditions for human flourishing?
We don't pretend to have all the answers. We are practicing. The House of Loto gives those questions somewhere to take root.
Before engaging with the community, please refer to our Community Code of Conduct.
TENDING THE HOUSE
Hospitality is part of the practice.
A house becomes a home through the people who tend it: Healing artists, practitioners, facilitators, friends, neighbors, travelers, and local members of the Loto community bring their own practices, cultures, traditions, stories, and ways of knowing into this place.
Sometimes they facilitate a gathering.
Sometimes they make dinner.
Sometimes they tend a fire, teach a practice, help care for the land, or simply sit at the table.
The House of Loto isn't built around one person holding all the Wisdom. It is a place where we bring what we have and receive what others carry.
A PLACE IN RELATIONSHIP
Rooted here. Connected beyond here.
The House of Loto is one physical home within a much larger web.
Loto's community stretches across places, cultures, traditions, and countries. Many of the relationships that arrive here continue elsewhere—and many of the practices shared here were carried to us from somewhere else.
We honor that movement.
We also recognize that gathering on land carries responsibility: to learn its histories, respect the peoples and ecosystems connected to it, and resist treating place, culture, or Wisdom as something simply available for our consumption.
Our hope is not to create an isolated sanctuary from the world.
It is to practice another way of being within it.
COME TO THE HOUSE
There is a place for you here.
The House of Loto is intentionally intimate. Some people arrive for an afternoon gathering. Others come for ceremony, practice, collaboration, or retreat. Some return again and again.
You don't need to share a particular spiritual tradition or worldview to gather here.
Come experience what becomes possible when we gather with intention.
Walk With Us
If you are seeking a conscious community where Wisdom is honored, the body is trusted, and human consciousness is allowed to unfold at its own pace—you are welcome here.
Come practice becoming human together.
Come walk with the WE.
