Blessed with a Sinkhole

“...Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”—Matthew 17:20

Greetings from the wilderness!

Some of you know “The Grandfather” tree stump not far from me. It is one of my favorite places to sit and meditate. Cut down for firewood because of the beetle kill, I find so much wisdom in this giant tree's many rings (which is why the Loto logo is a treeslice with many rings, depicting the wisdom of age). Displaying the beauty of endings, this tree stump reminds me that in nature, like life, everything has a season.

I have been eyeballing a large chunk of pre-cut firewood lying next to the tree stump, which was originally a part of this massive tree. Every time I sat on the Grandfather tree stump, I would ask the Lord to make a way for me to haul this big piece of wood back to my property. Fair game with a firewood permit, but I still needed machinery and manpower to make this possible (and didn't have the resources for either).

Over the last two weeks, Jesus has been reminding me that this is the year of His favor, a Jubilee year—to dream BIG, to move in flow, and not to let fear (scarcity mindset) stand in the way of receiving all that He has for me (Isaiah 54).

Never in a million years did I see what was coming next…

Recently, on our shinrin-yoku walk to the prayer waterfall during Forest Church, a sinkhole was discovered. I notified the forest service, and on my walk to the waterfall this past Friday, a crew with big machinery was already there working to fix the sinkhole. I thanked them for coming so quickly and taking such good care of this forest, and walked away. I heard the Holy Spirit tell me to, "Go back and seek their help. You asked for this tree stump, I've given you a sinkhole."

Instantly, it became clear to me that the sinkhole was how the Lord got the manpower and the HUGE machinery up here. In obedience to what I heard the Spirit say, I asked them, and the crew was more than happy to help me.

I asked the Lord for a tree stump, and I was blessed with a sinkhole.

Like a chess game, just think about all of the moving pieces that had to be orchestrated by YHWH for this moment to happen:

(1) I initiated this blessing of provision by asking Jesus to bless me with a display of His glory, while also releasing my attachment to the outcome of this prayer into God’s will.

(2) A sinkhole had to form that would require maintenance crews to respond.

(3) Timing is everything, and I just so happened to be walking past there as the repair work was wrapping up.

(4) I heard the Lord and moved in faith and obedience to ask for help.

(5) The Lord softened the hearts of the crew to my request.

I could see this all as luck, coincidence, and circumstance.

Or I could choose to see this as evidence that all things in my life are being worked out for my good—all things!

I am unconditionally loved by my Creator, who delights in giving me the pleasures of my heart.

I worship a God who delights in delighting me.

Laying on the Grandfather, asking to be delighted.

“...and [that you may come] to know (gnosis) [practically, through personal experience] the love of Christ which far surpasses [mere] knowledge [without experience], that you may be filled up [throughout your being] to all the fullness of God [so that you may have the richest experience of God’s presence in your lives, completely filled and flooded with God Himself]. Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen.”—Ephesians 3:19-21 AMP (emphasis mine)

As I am reminded of so often in these woods, Jesus is seeking my face, my attention, always. And that YHWH’s provision and blessings are constantly flowing; I need only be still and stay soft (not hardening my heart in fear) to receive what is for me. I don't have to chase, perform, or achieve, only accept His unconditional Love being offered to me (to all of us).

Have faith, and YHWH will move mountains (and tree stumps) in your life, too.

“...Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”—Matthew 17:20

In Your will, God,  show me Your glory again and again and again! Amen!!!

With Love,

Jennifer
